Are flowers considered inanimate objects?
That’s an interesting question. My first reaction was to say that it’s animate because it’s a living thing, but the word does seem to also imply the ability to move. Flowers can move slightly to bend toward the sun, but that’s not exactly conscious movement. Personally I would call a living flower animate and a cut flower inanimate, but I’ll be interested to see what others have to say.
