Are floodplains included in the Queensland Wetlands Program Wetland Mapping?

Many areas of floodplains do not remain wet for long enough to generate wetland soils or support wetland species and so are not wetlands according to the Queensland Wetlands Program Wetland Definition. Parts of a floodplain may meet the Definition of a wetland and are sometimes called floodplain wetlands. Floodplains themselves however are not wetlands per se. For Geographic Information System users, where possible a floodplain layer has been included in the Queensland Wetlands Program Wetland Mapping Data so that you can view them if you wish. Floodplains are included as a separate field in the HYD_WETLAND feature class (“FLOODPLAIN”) and can be added as a separate addition of this layer to an MXD file.
