Are fireworks, lasers, lights, and fog generators specifically prohibited by scripture at worship services?
David Wilkerson was distressed by the presence of special effects at the Mylon LeFevre concert. Since these are relatively new technologies, the scripture, of course, is silent on their use. I have to look at other instances where they are used, and see if those incidents are Christ honoring or not. I know of several occasions, but I will list two: • The First Baptist Church of Memphis, TN – under the leadership of Adrian Rogers (a stalwart of the faith) had indoor fireworks at a Fourth of July concert. Was Dr. Rogers also in error by having fireworks inside the church? Did demons inhabit those fireworks as well? I did not see any. • The First Baptist Church of Houston, TX – under the leadership of John Bisagno (another stalwart of the faith) uses many special effects during its annual Christmas pageant.
