Are films safe for insulated (double-pane) windows?
Modern window films like Vista and V-Kool are safe for double pane Windows. In fact, the manufacturers of these films warrant the film for life and warrants the windows for heat cracks and seal failures. V-Kool warrants these for two years; Vista warrants heat cracks for five years and seal failures for three years. Vista and V-Kool also offer modestly priced warranties that take over the manufacturer’s warranty word for word. As an example if the window manufacturer warrants the windows for seal failures for twenty years and seal failure does occur after 18 years, it is the film manufacturer’s responsibility to pay for the new window. Both Vista and V-Kool cover both the window, the labor to install it and the cost to refilm the new window. (Many window manufacturers don’t cover labor!
