Are fences allowed and what are the requirements for residential neighborhoods?

Fences are permitted in the Village of Barrington, however please check with your homeowners association to verify if fences are allowed in your subdivision. Fences may not exceed six (6) feet in height in the rear and side yards or three (3) feet in height in corner side yards and front yards. Fences must be constructed out of wood, brick, stone wrought iron or other similar decorative material. A permit is required for all fence installations. For specific questions, call the Department of Engineering and Building and ask to speak with a Zoning Coordinator.
