Are female birth control pills safe for males?
The hormones contained in birth control pills will in fact raise the likelihood of clots. It doesn’t matter how young you are, your still at risk. What can reduce your chances are for you to have a blood work taken to see if your blood contains one of 8 or so different blood conditions that make you more prone to clotting. These blood conditions are genetic and cannot be removed. If you are one of the people at risk, then the doctor may recommend you take a daily dose of asprin for as long as you continue to take the hormone treatment. As long as your blood isn’t at risk or at least more prone to clotting than your chances or risk lessen greatly, but you are still playing with fire. There are other methods, but unfortunately, to be approved for actual estrogen treatment you must first pass a psychological screening by a psychiatrist. If you pass that test then they will write you a prescription for the estrogen.
