Are extra-curricular activities very important to get into medical schools?
Extra curricular activities are vital for a prospective medical student. Volunteering is something you really need to try and search out. Do as much as you can. I’m sure you can find a volunteer job in a care home or something. It doesn’t literally have to be a medical position, as long as it’s in the role of a care giver. It sounds horrible, but nearly every prospective medical student in the country (UK) are desperate to get volunteer work wiping peoples bottoms in care homes and look after old people. It’s just how it works I’m afraid. As for specific extra curricular activities, they are basically everything you do to enhance your education outside the classroom or outside school. These can include extra classes you’ve taken, research you have undergone, societies and clubs you are/have been a member of, sports you play etc. These are also vital for a prospective medical applicant. Hope this helps, and good luck for the future!
