Are “English Americans” a definable group in modern America?

I know a lot of english americans here, I live in Tennessee. But usually they refer to themeselves as American first. It was easier for english people to assimilate because, well, the 1st settlers were from england. English is also the de facto language here. Besides that, the US tried to culturally separate itself from Britain after independence but a 2nd generation english man will usually always be seen as American due to a misconception that all white americans are of english descent, when actually more than 60 million white americans are german americans. User below me, that was an extremely bigoted, rude, and mostly completely false statement about southern people. My whole life of living in the south I have NEVER met a white southerner that was a product of incest, and 60-75% of whites in the south are NOT rednecks!
