Are ENERGY STAR qualified self-contained solid door refrigerators and freezers easily available in Canada?
Four types of self-contained solid door refrigerators and freezers can qualify for the ENERGY STAR symbol. They are classified as follows: reach-in cabinet, under-counter cabinet, roll-in or roll-through cabinet, and pass-through cabinet. All cabinet types are upright, self-contained and have hinged solid doors. The under-counter cabinet is intended for installation under a counter. The roll-in or roll-through cabinet allows for wheeled carts to be rolled into or through the refrigerator or freezer. The pass-through cabinet has solid doors on opposite sides. All qualified types of self-contained solid door refrigerators and freezers must also meet the specifications for daily energy consumption under the test conditions.
