Are energy rebates available for insulation installed under siding?
Some utilities provide rebates for energy efficiency measures. Utility rebate programs usually have requirements for eligibility. Contact your gas utility and ask about possible rebates and the requirements for those rebates. In addition, there is a federal residential energy tax credit available through the end of 2010 that includes insulation. Go to the IRS web page www.irs.gov ; in the search box in the upper right-hand corner, enter “Form 5695.” The IRS will not release forms for tax year 2010 until early 2011. Make sure to get a receipt from your contractor that shows the itemized costs of the insulation and weather-resistive barrier.
