Are employment agencies ignoring older unemployed?

No- it’s more a matter of employers penny pinching and preferring to employ younger workers as people under the age of 21 are cheaper to hire. Having recently come off the job market myself (due to becoming a new mother) I have extensive experience with ageism. I entered the job market at the age of 21 due to having undertaking a useless university degree ($20 000 in debt and no job to show!), I did eventually manage to find a non discriminating employer who would employ an over 21er. Now that the Australian government has introduced the incentives for employing uneducated over 25ers they employment agencies are finding it extremely hard to find an employer who will even consider somebody in the 21-25 age bracket!
