Are employees required to provide notice to their employer if they take SARS leave?
• Employees who take a SARS leave are required to tell their employer. If it is not possible to do so before beginning the leave, the employee has to advise the employer as soon as possible after beginning the leave. • If an employee goes into self-imposed quarantine or isolation, employers have the right to ask the employee for written documentation from a doctor or public health official that they were directed to continue their leave. Employees are not required to provide written documentation until they are able to return to work.
