Are drug products defined as preventive services?

As we are operating under interim final guidance, this is still subject to interpretation and clarification, but five drug products and vaccines are referenced in the descriptions of the various preventive services. Below is a chart that summarizes those drug products and the usage guidelines found in the USPSTF and other recommendations. Note that because the regulation is not final, different clients are implementing different plan design changes to comply with the guidance. At a $0 co-payment, plans are choosing to cover all, some, or none of the products listed below. Drug Product Rx/OTC Preventive Service Guideline Aspirin OTC Men aged 45-79 Women aged 55-79 Dosages are 75* and 100* mg per day and 100* and 325 mg every other day (*75mg and 100mg dosage forms are not currently available) Fluoride Rx For preschool children (aged >6 months) w/ low fluoride exposure (water source deficient of fluoride), primary care physicians should prescribe oral fluoride supplements.
