Are Dolphins The Second Most Intelligent Animals On The Planet?
According to researcher Lori Marino speaking at a conference in San Diego, USA, this could be the case. Marino, an expert on cetacean neuroanatomy at Emory University in Atlanta, argues that the dolphins have a very complex neocortex; the part of the brain associated with traits such as problem solving and self-awareness in humans. At the same conference Professor Thomas White asked what implications our growing understanding of dolphin intelligence has on the way we treat dolphin species and asks whether dolphins are non-human persons.
