Are Dolphins Just Gay Sharks?
Foes of offshore wind farms have a new reason to complain — dolphins. It seems that during the construction phase, dolphins are scared off by all the noise coming from wind farm sites, due to the animals’ sensitive hearing. Or maybe, as a character on Glee observed, “Dolphins are just gay sharks” who think construction sites are ugly. (Glee is an excellent source of scientific research, I’ve learned.) After the wind farms are constructed, however, the dolphins (more accurately known as porpoises) are expected to come back to feed on the marine life that thrives on or around underwater platforms.
