A. Yes. Analytical chemistry is performed to support atmospheric, biochemical, geochemical, hydrogeological, geomechanical, thermodynamic, and radiochemical characterization and analysis of natural features, events and processes and the design and performance of potential engineered barriers. Documentation of the analytical chemistry program is needed to support license application as specified in 10 CFR 63.21. NRC staff review requirements for identification and control of samples are described in Section 2.5.1.3, Acceptance Criterion 8, of the Yucca Mountain Review Plan.
