Are disabled parking bays equality or priority?
Equality. 1. Some people given the choice to park far away or close – would be forced to stay home on account of health issues (sun exposure, walking ability, breathing concerns, safety on account of short height) 2. Some people given the choice between an ordinary parking bay and a typical one would be forced not to park and have to stay home. (If you need space for a lift to lower or a door to open wide so you can use a walker – narrow spaces simply are useless) 3. Some people it takes far longer to do the same things than others – so the timing of paid parking becomes a barrier to equality. (finding what is accessible often takes a LOT OF TIME.) 4. Some people can only use particular accessible entrances and it makes no sense if they have to park on the other side of the car park.
