Guitar plans are needed whenever you are building a guitar. This is no different than anything else you build with your own hands. A good set of plans will get you started and guide you along the way. When it comes to guitar plans, you have two choices: paper blueprints, usually printed on 24×36 inch paper or digital CAD files, usually in DWG or DXF format. The one you choose will mostly be determined by your personal preference and what you feel comfortable working with. Although most guitar building hobbyist work from paper plans, digital plans offer several advantages. Let’s take a look at some of those benefits. Paper Guitar Plans – This is the traditional media used. The plans are drawn to full scale and printed on large sheets. This allows the guitar builder to measure or scale the drawing in any area where a dimension is missing.
