EndNote X3 can easily open and use libraries created with EndNote versions 8, 9, X, X1, and X2. No conversion is necessary. EndNote X, X1, X2, and X3 are fully compatible; you can regularly share your libraries between these versions. EndNote X3 can automatically convert libraries created with earlier versions of EndNote (versions 5, 6, or 7) – see the Help pages on EndNote X3 for instructions.
