Are diabetics allowed to drink alcohol?

0

Yes, but only in moderation. If you drink alcohol (in the evenings in particular) you should eat plenty of carbohydrates before going to bed to ensure your blood sugar level doesn’t drop dramatically in the night.

No because alcohol is coming from sugar changing to alcohol by a chemical reaction.

A type 2 diabetic can probably have *an occasional* drink if their glucose levels are under control, and alcohol is not contra-indicated on their medication.

Yes Diabeitcs are allowed to drink alcohol BUT the shouldn’t. Alcohol digests and becomes sugar in the body… this increases blood sugar levels and puts you into hyperglycaemia – this is when most of the damage is done to your nerves and blood vessels, leading to neuropathy, foot ulcers, blindness kidny failure etc.

Highly unadvisable. Why bother? Even if “allowed”, you could only have a little without risk of problems. Since alcoholism was a major contributor to becoming diabetic in my case, I’m against it. Like, I said, given how little you are “allowed”, it seems kinda silly to even bother since the main purpose of alcohol is to get a buzz and diabetics should, in no way, ever drink that much. Regardless of what you read here. Below is an excellent book where you can learn all about the causes and treatments of diabetes. It is the best $10.00 I’ve ever spent, by far. I use the minimum dose of Metformin, my weight is down, sugar is well regulated, and I feel great.
