Are diabetes supplies billable under Medicare Part D?

0

While insulin, insulin syringes and needles, alcohol swabs, and 2×2 gauze pads are covered by Part D, other diabetes supplies are not. Items including blood glucose testing strips, lancets, and glucometers are considered durable medical equipment (DME) billable under Medicare Part B. A pharmacy must be a Medicare DME supplier to bill for these items. More information about DME and becoming a supplier is available on Pharmacist eLink. As noted above, insulin syringes/needles and alcohol swabs are covered by Medicare Part D. Please use BD brand for these items, which are on the CCRx formulary.
