A. Yes. Engineering activities affecting quality must be prescribed in procedures and instructions, and those documents must include appropriate acceptance criteria. The issuance and revision of such documents must also be controlled. Design documents must be subject to design control measures in accordance with 10 CFR 63.142, including measures to ensure regulatory requirements and design bases are translated into specifications, procedures, drawings, and instructions; measures to identify and control design interfaces; measures to verify and check designs through design reviews and the use of alternative calculation techniques or prototype testing; and measures to control design and field changes and assure they receive the same level or review and approval as the original design. Plans and procedures implementing this program need to be included in the LSN.
