Are Depositions public information?
Yes, public access serves to enhance the transparency and trustworthiness of the judicial process, to curb judicial abuses, and to allow the public to understand the judicial system better. Id. (citing See S.E.C. v. Van Waeyenberghe, 990 F.2d 845, 849 (5th Cir.1993)). In a similar context, the Third Circuit found that it is well established that the release of information in a deposition is a publication of that information and operates as a waiver of any rights a party had to restrict its future use. We understand privacy concerns, and in an effort to protect all parties involved, we remove sensitive information such as social security numbers and driver’s license numbers from documents on our web site. However, requests to remove entire transcripts can not be fulfilled.
