Are DAWES bicycles any good? ?
Dawes bikes were once the mutts nuts but they’ve since been overtaken by competitors. Dawes frames tend to be heavy and components rather low spec. Unless you want to spend upwards of £1500 on a ‘top spec’ manufacturer like Scott, Specialized etc I would suggest going to your local Halfords. Although most biking afficionados would sneer at this for the same £350 price bracket as the Dawes XC 1.6 you can get a Carrera Kraken with much better kit and from a supplier who will give you a free service and decent back up. If I was spending that sort of money for a new bike the Kraken is the one I’d go for.
