Are CRF Publisher produced PDF files optimized ?
Optimized PDF files are a constant source of confusion. In fact, what is often referred to as optimized is actually a PDF feature called linearization. The combination of optimized PDF and linearized PDF features are used to serve PDF files over the internet (page by page) via web servers. Currently, our PDF files are NOT linearized. However, you may convert them to linearized PDF by using the Batch Optimize feature. Note that the FDA has not asked for optimized/linearized PDF files and in fact it causes the PDF files to be larger in total size.
