Are creative writing classes good or bad?
I’m afraid so. Then again, if you can learn all this now, and then take a step back and spend some time away from classes, you might learn to incorporate what’s been taught to what comes naturally. I did a reading group, just for fun, but now I can’t read books the same way. I always look at the components that make the story rather than just enjoying it. Still, if you want to expand your thinking classes will help you. I always wondered how some writers made it through college with their own unique writing style, but they do it. Maybe it’s a question of finding the real you and the ability to put that on paper.
