While CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) is not required for the M.Div., students are encouraged to seek CPE internships, serving as hospital and health care chaplains throughout the United States during a summer. Assistance in finding CPE opportunities is available. Many students have found health care chaplaincy to be an extremely enriching part of their overall M.Div. experience. Students generally make application to CPE programs during the spring semester of their first or second year.
