Are corps members able to balance teaching, obtaining certification, and attending graduate school?

0

Corps members are not required to work towards permanent certification or to complete a master’s degree while teaching in Eastern North Carolina. Both programs are optional. For those corps members who wish to obtain permanent certification, there are two options: 1. After teaching for three years and remaining in good standing with both the school district and Teach For America, the state will award permanent certification. 2. For corps members who are unsure they will teach beyond two years , East Carolina University offers an online permanent certification program for approximately $500 East Carolina University offers a master’s in education for our corps members. Unlike many other regions, the program in Eastern North Carolina is primarily online, which many corps members find to be extremely convenient as it eliminates travel time and expenses and provides schedule flexibility. The master’s program requires an internship after your second year of teaching, so the degree is awarded
