Are convictions final?

Usually a person convicted at trial has the right to appeal the conviction at least once. If you have plead guilty then there are very few grounds to appeal, in fact, many U.S. Attorneys insist on an appeal waiver during any plea negotiations. If you do have a plea waiver this does not automatically mean you are not allowed to appeal your sentence. There are numerous avenues to get back into the court room.
