Are computer makers making cheaper, less-powerful computers because Windows 7 isn so needy?
Windows 7 is better at managing resources, but still has higher requirements than XP. In a Vista vs. 7 contest, 7 would probably always win. While this frees up resources to do more useful work, it won’t necessarily encourage PC makers to make cheaper machines with less capabilities. It does enable the cheap PC makers to do this more easily, but if that’s the route they are taking, they will most likely stick with XP for the time being.
