Are computer forensics helpful in police operations?

The most famous and a very early case involving computer forensics was the BTK serial killer in Wichita, KS. Dennis Rader was convicted of a series of horrible murders involving the Binding, Torture, and Killing of innocent Kansans. Check out the Wikipedia article for more information @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Rader. Basically, Rader was so arrogant that he sent a word documet to the Wichita police after being assured that he could not be traced. The document had the name of the Christ Lutheran Church of which Rader was a member and the President of the Congregation’s council. Sources: http://en.wikipedia.
