Are commercial organizations currently participating in the caBIG® pilot initiative?
NCI welcomes involvement of commercial groups in the caBIG® pilot initiative. To date, many commercial organizations and some not-for-profit organizations have participated in caBIG® activities on a voluntary basis or contracted National Cancer Institute (NCI) representatives to discuss their interest in the caBIG® initiative. These organizations include information technology companies, large-scale software vendors, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech companies as well as small, specialized ventures. Participation varies from occasional involvement in open meetings to regular involvement with specific caBIG® Workspace and Working Group activities. Some commercial groups with particular expertise in specific caBIG® Workspaces are participating as unfunded Working Group members. NCI is hosting its first caBIG® Industry Partners Meeting on September 30, 2005.
