Are colored mats available?
A. Yes, colored mats are available and may be purchased as a Custom Order. A mat is a special paper that is placed underneath the image. The mat is larger than the image and therefore creates the effect of a colored border. Border sizes of 0.5″, 1″ and 1.5″ are typical. Note that laminated mats are different in appearance from mats in a framed picture. Mats in a framed image are typically raised slightly higher than the image. A laminated mat sits entirely underneath the image. Birth announcements and engagement announcements look great with or without a mat layer – it is a personal style preference. Photographs look best without a mat layer.
