Are College Football Has-Beens Making a Comeback?
Tradition and college football go together like peanut butter and jelly. College football programs with winning traditions are as important to the NCAA as the Yankees and Red Sox are to the MLB. In 2009, a “has-been” program, Alabama, made its way back to the top of the mountain after years of mediocre football. Is there a team that can do the same thing in 2010? It’s not likely a has-been will win the national title two years in a row, but there are a few once-proud programs that are ready to begin their comeback to national prominence. It will take a little longer than a season or two for some of the following teams, but rest assured, these programs will not be has-beens for much longer.
