In some areas, chemicals are needed to control certain diseases. Generally speaking, however, the higher the altitude, the less need for insect control. Higher grown Arabicas, therefore, have less potential for chemical treatment. After the coffee is picked, it goes through multiple procedures that would wash off or disinigrate any chemicals.
