Are Clinical and Industrial/Organizational Psychology programs eligible for PSM status?

0

Psychology programs are only eligible if they are part of a larger interdisciplinary group. Psychology is considered a social science, so it would be a PMA. For more information about PMA programs, please refer to the Council of Graduate Schools website. We have an interdisciplinary degree for a MA degree in Math and Science Education. Half the courses are taken from the Education department for application in research or in the classroom, while the other half consists of math and science specialty courses. Is this program eligible for PSM status? No, this program would not be eligible since the PSM is first and foremost a science degree. Two-thirds of the core courses in a PSM program are in the disciplinary science, with the remaining one-third comprised of the “plus” courses. While it is possible that the “education” curriculum might comprise the “plus” courses, they could not make up one-half of the required core. In addition, the CGS PSM Advisory Board prefers to exclude education
