Last year was the inaugural SCCA-sanctioned Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup™, an event for young drivers to compete in factory-prepped Jetta TDI vehicles. “The virtues of diesel are unique,” says Clark Campbell, the Motorsport Manager for Volkswagen of America. “We had a great success with our first season; we’ve gone from having race tracks not so keen to have us to now being asked to come to tracks, and from 54 drivers who showed up in Phoenix last year to over 2,000 applicants for this year’s 2009 Cup races.” Check out this year’s action, and watch the Racing Under Green documentary.
