People often wonder if dark brown diamonds are of inferior quality to white diamonds. The answer to this is generally ‘no’. Colored diamonds have exactly the same features as white diamonds, this means that they are of the same hardness and strength. However just as you will find inferior quality cloudy white diamonds with many inclusions, so you will find inferior quality colored diamonds. In order to buy a good quality chocolate or brown diamond you must still follow the basic diamond buying rules – clarity, color and cut.
