There are different child custody laws that pertain to all Native children either on or off the reservation. However they do not look like they will apply to you. They law is basically that if a child gets taken away from BOTH of their parents the tribe can intervene and make sure that child gets placed with a Native family. This is due to historical events when Native children were taken from their homes and placed with White families to make them more White (not for any good reasons). The act is the Indian Child Welfare Act. And it is commonly called ICWA.
