Are chevy duramax trucks diesel?
Duramax is just the engine and is paired up with a Allison Transmission. They make the same trucks in gas for less money. The Duramax option on a new truck is about $10,000. Also do the math 15-20% more per gallon to purchase Diesel fuel and only 20-25% better MPG plus you are out $10,000 more out of pocket vs. saving the $10k and getting less MPG and using fuel that now costs less than diesel. The answer is you are saving no money until you put 75,000 miles on a Diesel truck. A Diesel does provide more power for pulling, hauling and plowing but to buy one just for better MPG you better wait it out before you see the savings pay off if you ever see it.
