Are chemically treated products dangerous to use in and around the house?
When used as recommended, treated wood from Georgia Wood Preserving is safe to use around people, pets and plants. Please refer to the Consumer Information Sheet. The Environmental Protection Agency has given the chemical Georgia Wood uses in its treatment process, chromated copper arsenate (CCA), a “restricted use” classification. This means the preservatives themselves can only be sold to and used by certified pesticide applicators or persons working under their direct supervision. This restricted use applies to the chemical preservatives only not to treated wood products.
