Are Chaplains made redundant with the rules changes to the vow Accept Any Challenge, No Matter the Odds?
No. The vow allows Initiates and higher ranks in the army to re-roll misses in close combat against any enemies with a WS value. Litanies of Hate allows every member of the squad which accompanies the Chaplain to re-roll misses in close combat. There are several benefits which Litanies of Hate have over Accept Any Challenge: – Applies to Neophytes, who do not benefit from the vow. Useful for anyone using a lot of Neophytes or Servitors. – Works against enemies with no WS value (i.e vehicles). This applies to models armed with Krak Grenades and Melta Bombs. – Allows you to use other vows. In addition to this, Chaplains are very useful in footslogging units where they provide a lot of control over the Righteous Zeal movement.
