Are certified bilingual employees qualified to perform translation of documents?
Bilingual employees certified by SPB and other departments with delegated testing authority are certified to perform verbal interpretation or translation only. Certified bilingual employees who passed the oral fluency exams may not possess the expertise to ensure accurate written translation of documents. Bilingual employees should be certified with the SPB to ensure quality and accuracy in translating documents. The SPB administers written exams for Administrative Hearing and Medical Interpreters for the State of California.
