Are certificates required for pesticide application?
The Control of Pesticides Regulations (COPR) require relevant training. Operators born after 31/12/64 must have a certificate of competence. Those born before must be able to demonstrate competence and show proof of appropriate training. HSE recommend re-training after 5 years, though this is not mandatory. They do recommend, however, that every few years you check the chemical list to ensure that the formulation of what you are using has not changed. If it does change, you need to do another COSHH assessment.
