Are ceramic tube sockets better than plastic and moulded types?
Ceramic sockets are only superior to moulded types in two regards: 1) they do not carbonize if a tube arcs across its terminals; and 2) they can allow much higher voltage operation for new designs. They are, however, more difficult to retension than plastic sockets, and considering the statistical failure modes of sockets, this seems more significant.
