Are caucasians offended by BET (Black Entertainment TV)?
I’m caucasian and I’m not offended by BET. It does not bother me that it is on the air. I don’t watch much of it because most of the programming does not interest me. Anyway, what is more offensive is the new trend in TV shows and commercials. On TV shows where there is a mix of races, the white people are always shown as the nerdy, out of touch, and not hip. The minorities are always the “cool” people. It’s never more true than when you see a black comedian. Their routines are always based around how uptight and nerdy white people are and how cool black people are. That drives me nuts! Commercials are just as bad now. If you really pay attention, the dumb people who don’t know the answers are always white, while the people who are knowledgeable about the product are always a minority. That is what really drives me crazy about TV.
