Are cats and leather sofas a good idea?

0

I have 2 cats and they have never attempted to scratch our leather sofas because they use their scratch posts instead. However, I have brought a couple of throws to cover the sofas in case of accidental claw damage that may occur when they jump up on to the sofas. Bear in mind that cats have got scent glands on their paws, so once they begin to scratch somewhere, it leaves a smell that needs to be topped up from time to time. For this reason each cat needs it’s own scratch post and it’s worth persevering with encouraging them to use it, because once it’s become impregnated with their claw scent, they will always scratch there.
