Are carriers required to send Form MA 1099-HC letters to subscribers who reside in Massachusetts only for a portion of the year and move out/change their residency prior to December 31, 2007?
For the current year the date of concern is December 31. If you have an out-of-state address or know that the person has left the state you are not required to send the Form MA 1099-HC. That being said, however, there are some instances when a person’s address for insurance purposes and for tax purposes may be different. In these cases the carrier may need to generate a Form MA 1099-HC as needed for these individual cases.
