Are carpenter ants or termites dangerous to humans?

Carpenter ants can be. My daughter disturbed a rotten log some were nesting in. They got all over her legs and bit her. We got her out almost immediately, but she still had about 50-60 bite marks. They actually bit out very small little pieces of her skin. The next day the area didn’t look so good and she had a slight fever. She had to be put on antibiotics. Her pediatrician explained to me that carpenter ants actually can carry impetigo.
