Are Carbonated Drinks Harmful?
Aside from the immediate undesirable effects of drinking carbonated drinks, such as belching and gas, carbonated beverages may also be linked to more serious conditions when consumed for many years. More adults and teens than ever are drinking sodas and other carbonated drinks, which could be responsible for an increase in some health conditions such as bone problems in females. Harvard University offers supporting research, having found that the consumption of carbonated beverages increased by 118 percent per capita in the U.S. between 1970 and 1997 while the consumption of milk declined 23 percent.
